Vehicle Based Self Defense
“The car isn’t just transportation—it’s your largest piece of cover… or your biggest trap. Learn to make it the former.”
Vehicle Defense: Firearm Self-Defense In & Around Your Car Force-on-Force Reality Based Training with UTM Munitions
In today’s world, threats don’t wait for perfect conditions—they happen in parking lots, at gas pumps, during road rage, at stop lights, on the roadside, or right in your driveway at night.
This intensive, hands-on course teaches you how to defend yourself with a handgun when you’re in, next to, or inside your vehicle—exactly where most real-world defensive gun uses occur.
What You’ll Train:
- Safe, realistic force-on-force drills using UTM marking rounds (non-lethal, high-fidelity simulation)
- Drawing and firing from the driver’s seat without sweeping yourself or others
- Exiting the vehicle under threat while using the door and bodywork as cover
- Engine block, wheel wells, and vehicle pillars as ballistic protection
- Scripted scenarios including:
- Driver’s door carjacking ambush
- Rear tailgate grab
- Passenger-seat sudden attack
- Road-rage escalation at a light
- Night-time gas station / parking lot ambush
- Roadside breakdown turned hostile
- Residential driveway arrival in the dark
- Vehicle blocking / intentional roadblock
- Close-quarters confined-space draws (drive-thru, narrow alley)
- And more…
- Advanced variations: multiple assailants, simulated injury, environmental factors (rain, noise, distractions)
Who Should Attend:
Experienced concealed carriers who already have solid handgun fundamentals and want to bridge the gap between square-range shooting and real-world vehicle encounters.
Duration: 6–8 hours
Class Size: Limited – small groups for maximum repetitions and coaching
Prerequisites: Prior handgun training; must be able to safely draw and manipulate a pistol
Course Fee $295.00
Don’t train for the range. Train for the parking lot, the driveway, the gas station, and the dark.

Low-Light Vehicle Defense: Nighttime Firearm Self-Defense Training Force-on-Force with UTM Munitions
Most violent encounters don’t happen under bright lights. They occur at dusk, in dimly lit parking lots, gas stations after dark, residential driveways at night, or during late-night road rage. When visibility drops, your ability to identify threats, control light, and make split-second decisions becomes life-or-death.
This specialized low-light module builds directly on our core Vehicle Defense course, focusing on the unique challenges of defending yourself from, in, or around your vehicle when the sun is down.
What You’ll Train:
- Realistic low-light simulation using safe dim lighting, blackout glasses, and red headlamps
- Positive target identification – never shoot what you can’t clearly see
- Four primary handheld flashlight techniques:
- Harries (cross-wrist for stability)
- FBI (extended arm to avoid silhouetting)
- Rogers/SureFire (thumb-activated for speed)
- Neck Index (hands-free when moving or exiting vehicle)
- Weapon-Mounted Light (WML) tactics – the gold standard for vehicle defense
- 4 dedicated low-light scenarios + variations on core drills:
- Night-time gas station ambush (pump lights silhouette you)
- Residential driveway arrival in the dark (hidden threats near home)
- Parking lot ambush from shadows/blind spots
- Road rage escalation at a dark intersection
- Low-light versions of driver-door, passenger-seat, and roadside breakdown scenarios
Training Highlights:
- Full protective gear and UTM marking rounds for painful, realistic feedback
- Emphasis on verbal de-escalation, avoidance, and escape before engagement
- Structured after-action reviews after every run – learn from hits and light mistakes
- Delaware-specific legal reminders for nighttime use-of-force incidents
Who Should Attend:
Graduates of our core Vehicle Defense course (or equivalent experience) who want to bridge the gap between daylight range work and real-world nighttime threats.
Duration: 4 hours (evening/night format for maximum realism)
Class Size: Very limited – small groups ensure individual coaching and repetitions
Prerequisites: Prior handgun proficiency and vehicle defense fundamentals; must be comfortable drawing/manipulating a pistol in low light
Course Fee $200.00
Limited spots – register early. Contact Scott 302-222-7724 or visit the calendar.
